Behind the Bruce Lee statue in Los Angeles' Chinatown stands the Mei Mei Lou building. In 2018, we transformed it.
The design came from architect Atelier Manferdini. An op-art pattern of tile and cultural motifs in bold pinks and yellows. Gilmore & Associates, the real estate developer, brought us in to bring it to the wall with precision.
The building wasn't level. Lines that look perfect on paper don't stay perfect on a wall that leans. Michael solved it in real time, so the pattern reads true from the street.
We are powerful in collaboration. A visionary designer, a developer who believes in the block, and a studio that knows how to carry a design onto a building at full scale. Each of us brought something the others couldn't. We bring that same strength to every partnership, whether it's with an architect, a developer, or a city's public works team on infrastructure.
Pinks and yellows are the first colors to fade. So we built the work to hold. Meticulous surface prep, and the proprietary additive in our primer that keeps color alive years later.
Today it's a Chinatown landmark, marked with a bronze plaque. People stop. They take photos. They make it part of their day.
Honoring history while creating something timeless. That's the work.
